WTF: PLDT DSL Block Port 25!!!

If you are not familiar with Port 25, Port 25 is the virtual pathway that most e-mail use to route the outgoing message to a local server. If this port is block most probably you will not able to send any email coming from your email client such as outlook express unless your ISP provide a new smtp and port # to use.

Now back to the topic, just recently I noticed that I can no longer send email via OE with the use of my registered domain so I was thinking that the problem is on my hosting. I emailed the tech support several times but they keep on saying that there's no problem on their side so I stop. though the tech support is very helpful and suggested to test if my ISP is blocking the port 25.

This is the error message that I'm receiving when sending email using my Outlook Express.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.testdomain.com',
Server: 'mail.testdomain.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I had several testing(disabling my av, turn-off my firewall, using telnet) and found out that the "SALARIN" is my ISP. Jologs talaga!!! Those %#$! did not even notify us customers before blocking the port.

So here's what I got to resolve the issue... Don't bother to call PLDT, just update your current setting with the following information below.

Outgoing mail server SMTP: smtpdsl4.pldtdsl.net

My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: Uncheck it

USE Port: 587

Hope this helps ^______^

what is the incoming mail server for pldtdsl? i cannot get my incoming mails, its says the pop.pldtdsl.net doesnt work it’s fake

MyDSL mail is the worst! All I get is spam. My legit mail gets blocked and the “lin-tech” support are clueless. Now they’ve gone and changed mail servers (I think this is the right term), reset passwords and didn’t bother to tell us where we could change the passwords… now everyone has the same password.

      Sux!

    3. kulukutuy says:

main reason why PLDT blocked the SMTP port is because of spams from infected PCs connected to the network. many users don’t shut down their PCs and don’t know that their PCs are sending unsolicited mails due to virus infection.
Alot of PLDT’s IP blocks/ranges are blocked by spam protection sites like SPAMCop before this was implemented.
Kudos to PLDT for doing this! we should be happy for this that atleast less spams are sent, we have a faster internet connection due to less junk and valid mails are really delivered.
Another thing, atleast PLDT didn’t left us hanging and set-up this server to send mails.

hi. i can send email using port 587 but i cant receive emails. someone pls help me? thanks.

      • eligio says:

The problem is on your incoming mail server. Use the incoming mail server provided by your hosting company or your mail provider not the smtp mail server provided by pldt unless you are using pldt email address.

**If you are using gmail account, you can use smtp.gmail.com.

    7. Tilde says:

hey guys, try outgoing smtp server: smtpdsl4.pldtdsl.net, port 587, authentication is none. cheers!

YOU ARE THE BEST!!! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never thought that it would work one day!!!! I was told that PLDT was blocked by the MIS from work and I thought it was hopeless! And I need to be able to reply to emails even when I’m at home!

      Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

    10. eiserboy says:

ya.. very useful, thank u so much!

      hello guys,

i’m very thankful for your post. it really help. i’ve been calling pldt’s customer support for a long time but they cant fix my “email sending” problem. now, with the configuration you provided my outlook is fix. Thank you, thank you, thank you sooooooooooooo much

    12. Messenger says:

Akala ko mali lang mga email address na linalagay ko until I sent an email to myself. THANK YOU! for this info. PLDT has terrible customer service- you’re right, they didn’t send any warning about this.

    13. dreadled says:

i think they are not allowed to tell it especially when your using your own domain email. and you should be responsible when using your own domain email when using it on a email client(outlook), and the settings that you post is exclusive only to their customer using an email client.

now if your domain email use port25 to send out mail and pldt block that port this will be the outcome.

      fyi
most isp now block this port(25) because of spam issue, spammer use this port to send out spam email.

how to fix this issue ?
ask the one who set up your smtp server(your register domain) to use 587 as your port gateway, so in the future when you connect to a different ISP using your smtp gateway you will not have to change your smtp gateway becuase your domain port is block again .

now there’s a problem on pldt side because you post thier smtp settings and i can use their smtp to send out spam to the internet and spam database will flag thier smtp server as spammer and in the near future you will have another problem of sending out mail because pldt smtp server is block(yes the one your using) by spam database to sent out mail to the internet, because spammer can freely use it and have an idea that they can connect to it without authentication, anyway who cares..hehee

so the problem is not actually with the pdlt=)

      imho

      • eligio says:

it’s not a problem on the hosting either, the port 25 is the default. You cannot easily change to port whenever you want unless you have your own hosting. You cannot stop spammer, either I post the port or not it will be spam soon! Gmail uses different port but they are freely available to the public. So what do you think PLDT lover?

        • kulukutuy says:

this relay server most probably has spam filter.

if you hate PLDT that you mock us happy subscribers, then why don’t you have your connection terminated and shift to other providers? good luck if you’ll experience a problem free service.

just for the port 25 you blabber this much.

nakakatawa ka naman… i’m an online marketer, I depend on email.. every email for me is important… the fucking problem is I can directly reply to my clients using OE, I need to login to my cpanel hosting just to reply… Do this every everytime you received an email, how do you feel?

ang nakakatawa pa walang kaalam alam ang ibang tech support…

    14. julie says:
