One of the most popular video games ever is Final Fantasy. The Crisis Core game is a prequel for the 7th installment of Final Fantasy where you play as Zack Fair, a second class soldier who became a first class soldier in the later part of this game. If you have played Final Fantasy VII you’d recall some flashbacks where Zack Fair is present.

Crisis Core is an action game but a role-playing game as well. For sure this game will keep your adrenaline pumping and will just keep you craving for more out of Final Fantasy. You control Zack Fair and you can rotate the camera angle so you could have a much better view of the 3D world that Zack Fair is in. In Crisis Core, the characters present aside from the lead are Professor Hojo, Jenova, Weiss, Genesis Rhapsodos, Nero, and a sight of the dead body of Vincent Valentine. Cloud Strife is also present as well as the main villain Sephiroth. Many other characters from the original game can also be found in Crisis Core.

With many Final Fantasy fans all over the world, it’s no longer a surprise that this game had been well received especially because it has really positive reviews. In Japan, 350,000 copies had been sold on its release date. Square Enix even stated that so far, Crisis Core is their best-selling game where, from April to September of last year, over 700,000 copies had been sold in Japan alone. It was only in April 17, 2008 that Crisis Core had been released in the United States and so far over 300,000 copies had already been sold. Now, combining both the Japan and US sales of Crisis Core, this game already sold over a million copies making it one of the top selling PSP games.

With the success of Crisis Core, would the next Final Fantasy series beat its record or would it fall short to the success of Final Fantasy VII’s prequel, Crisis Core. We just have to wait and see.

God of War – Chains of Olympus PSP Game

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Experience Greek mythology at its best through the many adventures of Kratos in “Chains of Olympus”. Chains of Olympus is a game set at the beginning of Kratos’ 10 years service to the gods. The game is set when Persia was covered in darkness and Kratos was tasked by the gods to help in defending the city from the Persian army who wanted to invade it.

In the beginning you would fight in the level called “Battle of Attica” where you are set to defend the Greek city against the Persian divisions. These Persian soldiers are the first enemy you would have to fight in this game and they are quite easy to fight with. The first boss battle is with a basilisk and when you think you have already defeated him the monster ran away and fled to the city. While Kratos was chasing the basilisk, he encountered the Persian King and killed him which he then learns his first spell called the Efreet.

In this game you need to collect power ups in the form of red orbs so you could upgrade your weapons and other abilities. The Gorgon eyeballs will increase Kratos’ health while the Phoenix feathers will increase his magic.

This game is action packed and can be quite gruesome and is not intended to the faint-hearted. With lots of bloody battle scenes and realistic environment, it’s no wonder why many PSP players are addicted to this action-adventure game from Ready At Dawn. It had received high scores by many reviewers and critiques especially because of its high quality graphics and control scheme on a PSP. Although its released date had been pushed back from 4th quarter of 2007 to March 4 of 2008, fans were not disappointed as its developer provided them with a special edition demo which takes you to the first part of the game where Kratos fights with the persian army and up to Kratos’ battle with the Persian King. The demo version had received incredible feedbacks.

During the time of its release in March 4, 2008 the game had sold over 340,000 copies during its first month of release.

Patapon PSP Game

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Patapon WallpaperPatapon is a newly-released game for Sony PSP. It’s a game filled with fun and adventure. You must command the Patapon troops through 6 varying drumbeats that will command them to either march, attack, defend, retreat, to use magic or to power up. You command the Patapons in their fight against the Zigotons and different monsters. Combine chains of drum beating to win levels and to lead your Patapon troops to victory.

The Patapon tribe was driven from their home by the Zigoton army and now, with your drum beating help, they are fighting their way against the army that once drove them away from their beloved home. You use the command keys of your PSP to make the drum beats. Marching makes the drum beat, PATA PATA PATA PON which corresponds to square, square, square and circle. Attach is PON PON PATA PON which corresponds to circle, circle, square circle, Defending makes the drum beat CHAKA CHAKA PATA PON which corresponds to triangle, triangle, square, circle. There are 3 more drum beats that you must learn and master and then you make chains of commands for your cute little Patapons.

The music of this game is entertaining and dramatic. It makes you feel like you’re witnessing a tribal ritual dance and you just never get tired of the same rhythm playing over and over again. The game is unique! Who would have thought drum beating can fight off evil monsters? Also, you get to play their mini-games where you earn bonuses and more upgrades for your little Patapons. With over 30 missions, you would definitely get good value for your money. It’s fun, entertaining and also challenging. You build your army and create new Patapons. In order to win, you must strategize in developing your army. There are different Patapon characters such as Yaripon, Hatapon, Tatepon, Yumipon, Kibapon, Priestess Meden, Pan the Pakapon, Rah Gashapon and Fah Zakpon. These Patapon characters have their own position in the tribe and the warriors have different limitations so you must build up a good troop considering that each member has his own weaknesses and strengths.

This game is fun for all ages. It’s a must-have and you’ll enjoy playing it for hours! You may even end up singing PATA PATA PATA PON the whole day!
