Dead Monster Washes Ashore in Montauk

August 2nd, 2008
dead monster in montauk

On July 29, 2008, a photo posted on the popular blog Gawker appeared to depict the dead carcass of a supernatural creature, with the body of a hippopotamus and the head of a reptile. The photo was allegedly shot on the beach in Montauk, New York.

Some comment from gawker.com readers.

"It appeared to be a turtle, without its shell or a dog, the skin has been degloved by bloating in the salt water. It looks like it has a beak because the upper front teeth have been knocked out - that's the maxillary bone."

"Anything missing from Plum Island? That is the facility being spoke of I believe. Anthrax, hoof & mouth - they got it all. That is my factoid of the day."

"FWIW, Plum Island - the veterinary research facility - was also to be the home of Hannibal Lector, in the Silence of the Lambs. LAMBS, people! COINCIDENCE?? That's a silent fucking lamb mutation, washed ashore in sweet embrace of death's mint jelly. Or something."

Eraserheads Reunion Concert 2008

July 13th, 2008

It’s confirmed. The original Eraserheads will reunite!

Attention all Eraserheads fans out there, what you think is just a dream will soon become a reality. After all these years, finally we will see the original members of the greatest pinoy band all together and singing their most popular songs from the 90’s. Nope, unfortunately, it’s not a permanent thing. They’ll just be having a one night show at the CCP Open Grounds this August 30, 2008 where they will sing our favorite songs such as Alapaap, Ang Huling El Bimbo and of course Toyang.

So how did this become a reality? Well, it turns out that there is a big company who convinced the band members to be together once again to make their die hard fans happy and reminisce the old times. The said company does not want to have its identity disclosed though as of the moment.

Will this be a start of rekindling the old friendship that Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala and Raimund Marasigan used to have? Who knows what would happen after this one night show but everyone’s hoping that this won’t be the last that we’ll see them together. Who knows, maybe a new album would come out of this.

Now, I want a free tickets... ;-)

Jucelino Nobrega Deroose- A real psychic or a hoax?

July 12th, 2008

There are e-mails circulating stating that a clairvoyant Brazilian man predicts that there will be an 8.1 magnitude earthquake that will rock the Philippines on July 18, 2008. On the e-mail it states also that he had predicted the death of Princess Diana and he also predicted that there will be a flashflood in Iloilo and many other disasters and terrorist attacks in the past.

Those who quickly believe without doing research would say that if he had predicted these tragedies, then perhaps the July 18, 2008 earthquake is also true. Those who are not quick in believing what they hear, thinks that he is a hoax. So is he a real psychic or is he just a hoax?

There are informations circulating that defy the identity of this man. Experts say that Jucelino Nobrega Deroose sends out email and seeks fame after a tragedy has happened and he also sends out letters with a forged postmark to show that he sent the letters before the tragedy even occurred.

Whether this man is a real psychic or not, he already left the Filipinos scared of what will happen on July 18, 2008. Many are praying that the prophecy is not true while some are already thinking of staying at home and take a leave from work while some would go home to their province so they could be with their family.

With predictions like this, we are dumbfounded with whether or not it’s true. We should still pray for it not to happen so no lives would be lost.

Penalized by Google

July 3rd, 2008

Since Google started implementing the new algorithm name Dewey last February, a lot of site owner, SEO'er, webmaster and blogger experienced the notoriousness of G when it comes to site penalization. Rankings and indexed pages across data centers have been fluctuating which causes some e-commerce site, money making site loss their revenue.

Google’s Matt Cutts has responded to the issues raised on Google Groups discussion on site penalization, and he pointed out that the various Google penalties is associated with bad linking. This is the unusual ways of collecting backlinks, for example paid for review blogs, and template sponsorship.

Matt Says:

ShyBoy, have you been collecting backlinks in any unusual ways? It looks like you may have, and I would pay special attention to that. For example, if you had been attempting to get PageRank via paid links on various templates, then when that PageRank stops flowing (e.g. if Google improves its detection in various ways), the fact that you have less PageRank can also mean that a site won’t rank as well.

If that applies to you, my advice would be to pay special attention to that issue, in addition to the other good advice you’ve already gotten.

Now I'm confused, didn’t Matt Cutts already state that someone linking ‘to you’ can not affect you. But with regards to the other way around, then it can? What if someone added your link as sponsor on template? What if someone added your link on sponsor for review site? How do they know if this is a legit linking?

Currently I joined Busby SEO Challenge, and after a month my site got penalized. What I did is 3 way linking, blog commenting (not blog spamming) and that's it. My theory why my site got penalized, is not because of bad linking but because of fast link building, though I've seen some competitor doing the same but not get penalized. Google always caught me with my method, still thinking the best way to build backlink fast without G penalization. Simple penalization can easily neutralize by working on good backlinks and some onpage optimization.

Remembering Eraserheads

June 30th, 2008

I loved Eraserheads since I was in high school and even up until now. Listening to their songs bring back a lot of beautiful memories. It’s like a trip down memory lane… Eraserheads or E-heads as some would call them had written tons of beautiful songs. Their albums were Pop U!, UltraelectromagneticPop!, Circus, Cutterpillow (one of my favorite album), Fruitcake, Bananatype, Sticker Happy, Aloha Milkyway, Natin ’99, Eraserheads- the Singles, Carbon StereOxide, then Please Tranpose in 2003. The band members were Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Marcus Adora and Buddy Zabala. Ely then decided to leave the band in 2002 and since then the band eventually died though Eraserheads had made a name for itself that will never ever be erased in the minds of Filipinos. Eraserheads is like the Beatles of the Philippines. They paved the way for other bands like Parokya ni Edgar and Rivermaya. Eraserheads is the greatest band in the Philippines and the one who started it all.

eheads aloha milky way

eheads aloha milky way

have I found a band that could compare to Eraserheads. I simply love the songs they made like Ligaya, Para sa Masa, Alapaap, Julie Tear Jerky, Overdrive, Ang Huling El Bimbo and a lot more. I can listen to their songs over and over again and never grow tired at all. Their songs are the best… simply the best.

A few years after the break-up, the tribute album “Electromagneticjam!” was released. Eraserheads classics were remade by Filipino artists like Imago, South Border and Orange and Lemons in honor of the band. This did cause quite a stir especially for Ely Buendia who thought it was too early to have a tribute. Nonetheless, the tribute was a success and it gave the fans the chance to relive the E-heads days with a more recent rendition.

I really miss this group. How I wish they could make great songs again. I wish they would bring back the alternative rock madness that enticed the country for 1 whole decade… the 90’s. The present bands make good songs too but they are just not like the E-heads. Eraserheads will live on in our hearts.
