A new species of giant carnivorous plant has been discovered in the highlands of the central Philippines.
The plant is the largest of all pitchers and is so big that it can catch rats as well as insects in its leafy trap. The nectar is spiked with narcotic, so that the visitor soon feel giddy, loses it balance or footing and plunges into a vat of watery digestive juices where it drowns.
The botanists have named the pitcher plant after British natural history broadcaster David Attenborough.

Pitcher Plants in Philippines
Pitcher plants abounds in many places of the Philippines not only in Palawan. In Region 8, pitcher plants from the mountains are often seen being sold. Pitcher plants are also known to abound at Mt. Mount Pulag National Park covers about 11,560 hectares of public domain that lies on the north and south spine of the Grand Cordillera Central Mountain Ranges in the municipalities of Bokod, Kabayan and Buguias in Benguet; the municipality of Tinoc in Ifugao; and the municipality of Kayapa in Nueva Viscaya.
There are about twelve species of pitcher plants recorded in the Philippines. The pitcherplantfever.com mention N. alata ‘Quezon lowland’ which is described as an easy beginners plant, that grows in a wide range of altitudes (0-2400m), light levels and produces pitchers even during dry season. It looks best when it get lots of indirect light and the pitchers increase in size and become reddish. It originates from the mountains of central Luzon.

pldt mydsl sucks
I've been with pldt dsl since yr 2006, sobrang ganda ng connection medyo nagkaproblema lang last year pero pede pa naman matiis. Pero ngayon taon sobrang nakakinis, sobrang nakaka
high blood talaga. Hindi ko naman pede muramurahin yung mga customer service kasi wala naman sila magagawa saka naramadaman ko rin maging csr na mula umaga hanggang gabi minumura ng maiinit na ulong internet user.
Sobrang batrip na tong PLDT MYDSL lalo na kung umuulan or maski ambon lang na didisconnect na. Every minute na diisdisconnect, hindi man lang umabot ng isang oras. Maka connect ka man hindi naman maka browse, ma swerte na talaga maging maayos connection pag umuulan. Pag wala naman ulan, ganon parin pero maski papano tumatagal ng ilang oras. Pero madalas talaga tuwing umaga hindi ako maka connect ng maayos, pagtanghali medyo okey, pag dating ng hapon balik problema hanggang gabi na. Sa madaling araw okey naman (pag hindi umulan). Masyado lang talagang maraming PLDT MYDSL user ngayon lalo na yung lumabas na prmo nila na QWIK connect, sobrang badrip pag nakikita ko yung commercial nila. Bakit hindi nila ayusin yang services nila, hindi yung accept sila ng accept ng DSL user.
Medyo natuwa naman ako sa PLDT maski ilang minuto lang nung tumawag sila sa phone at inofferan ako ng libreng WEROAM, free delivery daw. Sabi ko ayos! Nakuha ko naman yung gadget for free pero nung nag try na ako mag connect wala man lang signal na makuha. Lalo akong na badtrip!!!!!!!!!
Hindi ko na talaga matiis na hindi e blog to kasi pati landline namin walang dial tone, buti meron internet. Si Mama nag punta kahapon sa PLDT para ereklamo kasi mag two weeks na. Dati kasi tuwing lingo nawawalan ng dial tone pero bumabalik pero this time hindi na bumalik.

UFC 100 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on July 11, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada(July 12, Sunday Philippine Time). The event will include two championship bouts (Heavyweight and Welterweight) and a fight between the two coaches of the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series on Spike TV. The event had been announced as sold-out, before the tickets were even made available to the general public.
The main event will feature a rematch between UFC Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar, and UFC Interim-Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir. The match between Lesnar and Mir was set for UFC 98. However, Mir suffered a knee injury during training and was forced out of the bout. It was announced a day later that the proposed fight would be moved to UFC 100 instead. Lesnar and Mir have fought once before, during Brock's UFC debut at UFC 81. Lesnar controlled much of the bout, and mounted a successful ground and pound attack. During the exchange on the ground, Mir got hold of Lesnar's leg and locked up a kneebar. Lesnar could not escape and was forced to tap out, awarding Mir the victory.
