Nokia E71

August 26th, 2008

If you loved the Nokia E61 and E61i, you will surely love the Nokia E71. It is smaller and thinner compared to the E61i at a thickness of only 10mm and at just 57mm in length. The display screen is respectable at 2.36 inches although it is smaller compared to the 2.8 inches of Nokia E61.

The Nokia E71 features a 3.6 Mbps HSDPA, wifi 802.11 b/g with a Symbian operating system 9.2 that is perfect for your internet browsing requirement.  The QWERTY keyboard lets you type your

messages just like using a computer keyboard but it’s just a bit too small to be comfortable. If you have big fingers, this phone may not be that appealing because of its cute keyboard. It’s perfect for women though as women are gifted with smaller fingers compared to men but if you could master the fingernail typing instead of using your fingers for pressing the keys then this won’t be a problem for you.

In the Philippines, you could purchase your own Nokia E71 for about P21,000. If you want to buy it from Nokia it can be bought for more than P35,000 inclusive of warranty. With all of Nokia E71’s features, this cellular phone is priced just right.

Of course this cellular phone is not all superb. It only has a 110 MB internal memory with an extra 128 MB of SDRAM memory but this could be increased if you buy a higher memory. Its camera is not designed to compete with other new camera phones as it only has a 3.15 megapixel camera. To some, this is an advantage because this phone is not built for taking photos but for its laptop-like features which is what Nokia focused on for this quality phone.

If you need to check your emails regularly but doesn’t want to buy a bulky laptop, the Nokia E71 is an excellent buy.

Filipinos can now enjoy the new iPhone 3G…… or not!

August 25th, 2008

Many have been excited and had been anticipating for months to get their hands on the latest and coolest cellular phone to ever hit the market. Those who want to always be “in” would pay just any amount to stay with the “in” crowd and not be left behind.  With the introduction of the new Apple iPhone 3G, how many can actually afford to buy their very own iPhone?

If you can afford, why not? But surely, not too many would want to spend over 30,000 pesos just for this cellular phone. There are many phones that can surf the internet and do most things that an iPhone can do but they are at a fraction of the cost. So, how much is an iPhone 3G? Brace yourself.

You need to have P34,000 before you could buy your own iPhone 3G and that’s for the 8Gb while the 16Gb costs around P38,000. Not only that, you need to pay about P3,000 for the iPhone to be unlocked through Apple’s Mandatory in-store activation if you want your iPhone to be unlocked.  That’s about P40,000 just for this cellular phone!

With iPhone you will soon enjoy purchasing songs and videos through Apple iTunes. Come on now, do you really need to pay for something you can get for free? Filipinos use LimeWire and torrents to download their favorite songs and movies, are you willing to pay over a dollar for each of the songs on your playlist?

Many may shy away from this new gorgeous phone just by looking at its price tag but many would still purchase it not because they need it but just because it makes them look cool.  It’s a great phone, we can not deny that. But, does it have to be worth this much?

Coffee Prince Korean Actor, Lee Eon died in accident

August 24th, 2008

Model-turned-actor Lee Eon (also spelled Lee Un, most famously of Coffee Prince) has died tragically in a motorcycle accident.

The 27-year-old, born Park Sang-min, was on his way home following the wrap party for KBS’s Strongest Chil Woo early on the morning of August 21. He was riding a motorcycle and ran into the guard rail of the overpass in Hanam-dong. He was not breathing when the police found him at the scene and was rushed to the hospital. However, the doctors were not able to resuscitate him.

Lee became popular for his performance as a supporting actor in MBC (Korea)'s TV series "Coffee Prince 1st Shop", which propelled him to fame in the entertainment world. He followed that with a stint as a cable-TV MC, then returned to dramas with Who Are You? and, most recently, Strongest Chil Woo.
