Camera models come and go because upgrades are becoming increasingly incessant to lure buyers to avail a newer camera style that is out in the market.
Nikon, one of the leading brands that offer high-quality SLR’s, takes quite a long time before releasing a new SLR camera or even just upgrade an older, but still superb, SLR. One of the SLR cameras that they made available to the public is the Nikon D2Xs which came out, after almost two years, after the outstanding D2X. So does the successor surpass its predecessor? The Nikon D2xs has 12.4 megapixels which makes the resolution a lot more enjoyable to look at. Added to it is a wide angle 2.5 inch LCD screen which gives a clearer and much better view of photos. Nikon D2Xs’ forerunner, the D1X, had a double-horizontal resolution CCD sensor. However, with the increased pixels Nikon removed this feature in the D2Xs. Despite the removal of this handy feature, the Nikon D2Xs is still a good choice because it just chose to enhance the accuracy of D2Xs’ progression with its images.
The new D2x also offers different facets like a black and white mode option; an in-camera trim function; the accessibility of the matrix metering and the Adobe RGB (all color mode); electronic masking of the focusing screen; an image authentification system and it also has 1/3 ISO augmentations. In addition, it also has a longer battery life which comes in handy for photographers who will use it on special occasions and events or even during times where you can’t find a place to charge your camera’s battery.
Color has always been a great factor in photography. Black and white photos can give a feel of elegance and mystery but coloured photographs can sometimes capture life itself. D2Xs is equipped with a 3D-Color Matrix Metering which assimilates a more precise color capture. This feature also averts congested silhouettes and dull focal points.
For most photographers, being able to see the simplest details of its subject is an important feature in a digital camera. The Nikon D2Xs offers remarkable sharpness that will let the photographer see the outline of the subject’s clothing and even the consistency of its hair. Its incredible sharpness can truly capture an object or subject’s true beauty.
White balance correction is rarely needed, even if you shoot in RAW format, with the Nikon D2Xs because it has a Gretag Macbeth color checker which tests the color accuracy of the camera.
D2Xs also has other improvements such as having multiple exposure capabilities and superimposing images which can be done even without a computer. However, most photographers would rather do fix the images using their trusty Photoshop than waste their battery using these features on the camera itself.
Another important feature when looking for a great camera is the camera’s image processing speed. Nikon D2Xs has four channels compared to other models’ which only has one, therefore making the conversion from analog to digital a lot faster.
The only upset about the Nikon D2xs is its steep price. Overall, it is a first-rate digital SLR camera that can satisfy most photographers’ cravings to procure brilliant images with ease.
